Nashville International Airport (BNA) Information: History and Facilities
Opened in the summer of 1937, the city's airport was then known as Berry Field Nashville (BNA) and covered just over 300 acres / 121 hectares. Used as a base for the military until 1946, the facilities at Berry Field were basic and as passenger numbers climbed, Nashville International Airport soon needed revamping and the airport was expanded during the early 1960s. A new passenger terminal was completed in 1961 and during this year, the airport served more than 500,000 passengers for the first time. Nashville International Airport has grown dramatically over the years and today encompasses around 4,500 acres / 1,821 hectares.

Facilities at Nashville International Airport (BNA) are reasonable and include a Business Service Center on the ticketing level, along with WiFi Internet access, the Wright Business Travel Center and a Massage Bar offering seated-chair massages. Particularly popular is Nashville Nails on Concourse C, where you can pamper yourself with a range of spa services. Art lovers will be delighted to find the onsite 'Arts at the Airport' program, which includes a permanent collection of paintings and sculptures and is operated by both the TAC (Tennessee Arts Commission) and the MNAA (Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority).

A food court area is sited on Concourse C, with around a dozen different eateries here or nearby, such as Andrew Jackson's Tavern, the Bull Pen, Capitol Hill Grille, Coffee Beanery, the Landing and also AirMeals on Concourse B, where you can purchase package foods to take with you on your flight. There are also a handful of shops on hand around Nashville Airport, such as the CNN News Store, Welcome to Music City and Hudson Books.
